About

Kaos Protokoll was created and is led by Swiss composer / bass player Benedikt Wieland. The project has been exploring the post-jazz idiom and riding the new wave of jazz, all the while crafting a wild assemblage from electronica, post punk, spiritual jazz and neo-contemporary since 2012. The group has four critically acclaimed releases to its name: Quick and Dirty (2012), Questclamationmarks (2015), New Chapter EP (2018) and Everyone Nowhere (2018). Over the years, producers and instrumentalists such as Django Bates, Petter Eldh, Otis Sandsjö, Andreas Schaerer, Robot Koch and Alexandre J. Maurer have all made notable contributions to the band’s output.

 

Kaos Protokoll played over 170 concerts to date, appearing on stages all over continental Europe as well as Russia. The band was featured at prestigious festivals such as Cully Jazz Festival, Bejazz Winterfestival, Jazzwerkstatt Graz, Jazz Bez Festival Lviv, Jazzmeile Thüringen and Jazz Contre Band Festival in France. It received the ZKB Jazz Prize (2nd place) in 2013 and was honoured with the Pro-Helvetia Priority Funding in 2018.
