Gone is the caustic, punky bite of previous efforts, what we get instead, are very moody, sprawling, melodic tapestries that recall the tranquility of some of Coltrane’s more introspective ballads, as well as the mellower end of 60s Spiritual Jazz. The semblance is in the spirit and the approach, mainly, as the actual playing, the use of electronic textures and enhancements, the "beat scene" inspired articulations and the sound design are undoubtedly modern.

With the exception of the driving, hallucinatory SunRaColtraneSolar, which features spoken word artist Mr.Are.Dot, all of the songs on the EP are instrumental. The title track, New Chapter, builds from a swirling, contemplative, blue-inflected space to something of a blossoming, polychromatic explosion. She Sees picks up with a steady, shuffling groove – one that could easily sway the crowd at a Low End Theory night – which eventually implodes into a free-form exploration of the abstract. The EP closes with Croos, a gorgeous, flowing ballad, one you wish would never end.
